Why does car dealership need credit check? - no credit check car

I authorize my bank and have a loan check good for up to 50,000 of my revered nationally recognized U.S. bank. I have a contract for a car, but said the dealer, it will conduct a background check, but it does not explain why (apart from Osama bin Laden, the Patriot Act said, "fast n", explains nothing. I have nothing to hide, but ticks me off and it will not. The bank is open tomorrow. Have I not reason, or are they?
